NZHQ at WYD is finalised

The NZ World Youth Day Project Manager, David Mullin, was in Sydney last week to finalize details for the New Zealand Headquarters (NZHQ) at World Youth Day in Sydney in July.

Situated right in the heart of Sydney and very close to the southern entrance to Bangaroo, the main venue for WYD festivities, the NZHQ will be a hive of activity for the week of WYD. The NZHQ will be the place where:
•    Pilgrims can CONNECT to home via Connect.org.nz on laptops set up to post news about WYD home to family and friends;
•    Pilgrims and Group Leaders can re-connect if they lose each other;
•    Kiwi Ambassadors, diocesan and national WYD staff will finalise the NZ National Gathering;
•    Group Leaders can find support and resources;
•    NZ’s WYD travel providers, Williment Event Management, will be basing themselves to handle travel queries;
•    And so much more!

With the magnitude of the NZ Pilgrimage, the NZHQ is an essential aspect of ensuring a great experience for NZ Pilgrims. The 4000 Kiwi Pilgrims heading to Sydney will constitute the largest contingent of New Zealanders to leave New Zealand for a non-sporting event since World War II. With that in mind, the aim is to provide a place for pilgrims to connect to each other, their leaders and back home, as well as provide the capacity to deal promptly with any disruptions or glitches that arise along the way.
